Mayor of Inđija, Petar Filipović hosted H.E. Mr Laurent Louis
Stokvis Ambassador of the Kingdom of Netherlands. After very constructive
conversation about municipality of Inđija functioning, as well as potentials
for its further economic development, possible cooperation with institutions
and businessman from Netherlands, mayor held short presentation in which development
of our municipality and reforms in administration in last 10 years were shown.
“I had pleasure to inform Mr Stokvis about everything that we have done
in last 10 years in Inđija, and our achievements because of which we received
numerous awards. I presented our economical potentials and what our
municipality can offer to investors and everyone that are visiting our
municipality” – emphasized the Mayor.
Mayor expressed desire that Municipality of Inđija and embassy of
Netherlands keep good communication, which would result in mutual projects, and
later with Dutch investment in Inđija.
H.E. Mr Laurent Louis Stokvis Ambassador of the Kingdom of
Netherlands thanked for reception, as he said, in such impressive municipality,
pointing out that conversation with Mayor was held in great atmosphere and that
he is impressed with Municipality of Inđija high level of management.
“The level of Municipality of Inđija’s e-government is impressive,
as well as it’s great interaction with citizens, which I consider to be the way
that all municipalities and cities should adopt. I understand that reaching
that level was achieved with a long and hard work, but the results are visible,
and I can see why this municipality is desirable for investors and for life of
citizens.” – said Ambassador.
After reception, Mayor and H.E. Ambassador of the Kingdom of
Netherlands attended the opening of Club for elderly people “Corner for happier
moment” in premises of Red Cross of Inđija. Equipping of this club was part of “Matra”
project that is led and financed by Dutch NGO “Yanos”, which is supported by
Ministry of foreign affairs of the Kingdom of Netherlands.
“This project shows how cooperation between local self-government,
Red Cross and everybody that want to contribute to help and support our elderly
fellow citizens, can be successful. This is a good example that should be followed
by other local organizations of Red Cross” – said Dragan Radovanović, Red Cross
of Serbia President. He also congratulated International Volunteer Day to
everybody.
Mayor Petar Filipović, greeted everyone present in behalf of
Municipality of Inđija, and thanked Red Cross of Inđija, for representing our
municipality so good, pointing that they will always have his full support for
their activities.
“Municipality of Inđija gives a lot in social program, 25% of this
year budget and following year budget will be used for social benefits, and one
of it’s categories is the help for elders through different projects. I believe
that this is great project and good way to help the elderly, and from today
they will have space where they can spend time, and socialize” – concluded the Mayor.
H.E. Mr Laurent Louis Stokvis Ambassador of the Kingdom of Netherlands
expressed great satisfaction that this project was implemented, pointing out
that it wouldn’t be possible if people of strong will weren’t included. People
that were ready to endure in order to achieve something like this. He expressed confidence that this project
will be continued because it was
created from the heart.
NGO “Yanos” representative Lex Nonekes expressed that he is very proud of
whole team that worked on this project implementation.
“Project is finished, but needs of elderly will grow, like in whole Europe
number of elderly is growing. That is why I appeal on all that have
responsibility, like local self-government and Red Cross, to continue with
their activities in order to improve the quality of life for these people.”
Activities that are planned to be implemented in the club offer the
elderly a wide range of
activities for quality leisure time.
