The
first Shakespeare
festival in Serbia will be held from 19th to 25th of June at the Villa Stankovic
in Čortanovci and display of global production made by
the plays of William Shakespeare
Theaters from England,
America, Georgia, Greece, Finland,
Slovenia and Serbia, will
participate as well as significant
Shakespeare Scholars, educators and artists in the accompanying
program.
The
famous "Globe Theatre" play "Hamlet" from London will open the festival as
part of its world tour on the
occasion of 450 years since the
birth of Shakespeare.
Organizer Ithaca Art Center points out
that the idea of the festival,
unique in this part of Europe, to foster the work of
the world's largest creator of
dramatic by presenting an attractive theater program under the
open sky, as it was in Shakespeare's time.
The
sponsors of this year's festival are AP Vojvodina - Ministry
of Culture, Municipality of Indjija, Ministry of Culture and Information of Serbia. The program is realized in cooperation with the Cultural Center
of Indjija and Youth Theatre, Novi Sad.
