CortanovciCortanovci, a famous picnic
area in the National Park Fuska Gora, is an interesting village located
on the River Danube bank. Besides its natural values and beauty, the
place is also rich with cultural and historical monuments: the remains
of a settlement from Neolith era, the remains of a Roman fortress, Saint Spring Savinac (where St. Sava rested during his journey to Monastery Kovilj) and Villa Stankovic (the King regent Radenko Stankovic’s villa). This picturesque settlement can brag about one of the most beautiful sandy beaches in this part of the Danube
flow, attractive sandbars and sandy isles, so it is recommended to the
sport and recreation lovers – the lovers of active holiday in the
nature. Opposite
the weekend settlement Cortanovci-Danube located on the right bank of
the River Danube, the left bank is an intact wooded area and it is a
part of the protected nature zone "Kovilj-Petrovaradin marsh". On the
occasion of high water-level, by sailing through intact nature of former
flow of the Danube (armlet named Old Danube), you can get to monastery Kovilj.
